How do you envision the development and growth of Asia's eCommerce industry in the next 5 years?

As Asia’s eCommerce industry evolves, content-driven commerce, shoppertainment, and the contributions of creators and affiliate creators will become central to the shopping experience. Brands that leverage these trends effectively will not only enhance consumer engagement but also drive significant growth, both locally and across borders. These strategies will help brands build stronger connections with their audiences, create more personalized shopping experiences, and ultimately, achieve long-term success in the dynamic and fast-growing Asian market.

Why should eCommerce professionals attend your speaking session?

In my session, I will outline a structured approach to effectively navigating the diverse customer touchpoints in eCommerce, demonstrating how to thrive in this complex environment. We’ll delve into strategies for mastering both content-driven (such as through video content, social commerce, and livestream selling) and intent-driven shopping journeys (such as eCommerce marketplace) — strategies we've successfully implemented on TikTok Shop—to help you grow your business in today’s dynamic eCommerce landscape.
To succeed in today’s eCommerce environment, it’s no longer sufficient to simply list products on online store or marketplace. You must also actively engage customers with compelling content that drives traffic to your store. From crafting engaging content to leveraging live streams for promotion, the rise of content-driven commerce has expanded the number of touchpoints far beyond traditional intent-driven shopping, creating new opportunities to connect with and convert your audience.

What will be some key takeaways from your speaking session?

One of the key takeaways from my session is that as eCommerce becomes increasingly complex, it’s crucial to focus on analysing the right metrics to fully understand the business landscape and craft strategies for success in this evolving environment. By honing in on these critical metrics, you can gain valuable insights that guide your decision-making and help you stay competitive.
Today’s customers have more options and touchpoints than ever in their purchasing journey—whether through content, live streams, search, discovery pages, recommendations, and more. As eCommerce players or sellers, it’s essential to recognize this shift and strategically optimize these touchpoints to enhance product discovery, improve customer buying experience and ultimately drive sales growth. TikTok Shop plays a key role in this eCommerce ecosystem by not only engaging users through content and live streams but also by obtaining predictable traffic for the brand, providing a consistent avenue for brand visibility and conversion.

What is one advice you would give to young eCommerce professionals?

One key piece of advice I would give to young professionals in the eCommerce industry is to embrace continuous learning and adaptability. The eCommerce landscape is constantly evolving, with new technologies, platforms, and consumer behaviours emerging at a rapid pace. To stay ahead, it’s essential to be curious, keep up with industry trends, and be willing to pivot and adapt your strategies as the market changes. Cultivating a mindset of lifelong learning and flexibility will not only help you navigate challenges but also open up new opportunities for innovation and growth.

I’m eager to gain fresh insights into the latest trends and innovations driving the eCommerce industry forward.
